The Scree pledge

Scree will never book a campsite for you.

Tools that auto-grab campsites are quietly wrecking this for everyone — they're a big part of why the reservation systems keep adding captchas, queues, and bans. Scree is built the opposite way, on purpose. Here's exactly where the line sits, in writing.

The pledge

  1. Alerts only. Scree watches for openings and tells you. You do the booking yourself, on the official site. It never auto-books, holds a cart, or jumps a queue.
  2. No account access. Scree never logs into BC Parks, Parks Canada, or your account, and never acts through your booking account.
  3. No reselling, no transfers, no hoarding. One watch, for your own trip. Scree won't help anyone grab sites to flip or sit on.
  4. Alerts-only, never a booking. Scree checks availability and sends you a link. It never places a hold, books, pays, or completes a reservation — a human always books manually, on the official site.
  5. A real person runs it. There's no faceless company — it's me, Cody. I set up every watch by hand — I'm personally reviewing the first 100 beta watches — and I answer every email.

Why I'm putting this in writing

Two reasons. First, it's the right way to build this — the backcountry runs on a bit of shared trust, and a tool that games the system chips away at that for all of us. Second, it's the only way a tool like this survives: the auto-grab apps are exactly what gets this whole space shut down. I'd rather be a little slower and still be here next summer.

What that means for you

You'll always be the one who clicks "book" — Scree just makes sure you're the one who sees the opening first. There's no guarantee against the mountain: if someone books faster after a valid alert, that's the nature of it. But anything that's on my end, I'll make right.
