Scree Alerts — Terms of Service (Beta)

These terms cover the Scree Alerts paid beta, operated by Cody Gray (operating as Scree Alerts) ("Scree", "we", "us"), reachable at hello@screealerts.com and 434 Cougar St, Banff, AB T1L 1B1. By requesting a watch or paying for one, you agree to these terms.

1. What you are buying

Scree watches public campsite availability for an approved seasonal route/campsite scope, and sends you an email alert when an opening appears. An alert includes the exact dates, the exact campgrounds or resources, and an official booking link.

This is an alert service only. Scree checks availability and sends you a link. It does not book, hold, reserve, transfer, resell, or guarantee any campsite, permit, or reservation, and does not access your booking account. It never places a hold, pays, or completes a reservation, and makes no claim of compliance with any provider's system, terms, or automated-access rules. You complete every booking yourself, on the official provider site.

We contact you only as described in our Privacy Notice: the alerts, receipts, and setup/cancellation notices that are part of the service, plus any optional updates you separately opt into. Our messages follow that notice and Canada's anti-spam law (CASL) — they identify us and include a way to unsubscribe.

2. Independence

Scree is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by BC Parks, Parks Canada, CAMIS, Stripe, Vercel, or any reservation provider. Those names describe only what Scree watches or the tools it uses.

3. No guarantee

Availability changes quickly, and Scree depends on provider sites it does not control. We do not promise that:

• an opening will still be available after we send an alert;
• every opening will be detected, or detected within a particular time;
• alerts will always be on time, correct, complete, or free of duplicates; or
• the service will be uninterrupted.

You are responsible for confirming dates, fees, group limits, closures, restrictions, and all booking rules on the official site before you book or travel. Scree is not outdoor safety, emergency, route, weather, or trip-planning advice.

4. Pricing and activation

The beta uses one-time, per-season pricing: paid watches start at CAD $15 for a single campground, with each additional campground at +$5, a whole multi-campground route at $25, or an all-access watch covering every supported trail at $50. Wave 1 is email-only. Prices are confirmed at purchase. All prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD). Scree is a small supplier for tax purposes and does not currently charge GST/HST; if that ever changes, any applicable tax will be shown before you pay.

We confirm we can monitor your route/campsite scope before taking payment. Watches are activated manually after payment and after a test alert — there is no login or automated account. A watch is active only once we confirm it.

After payment we email you a written confirmation of your watch — the route/campsite scope, season, price, and a link to these terms — which serves as your copy of the contract. For purchases over CAD $50, that confirmation and your cancellation rights are provided in line with Alberta's internet sales contract rules.

5. Refunds

Refunds are governed by the separate Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.

6. Your responsibilities

• Give us accurate contact details and an accurate route/campsite scope.
• Book and pay the provider yourself, and follow all park rules.
• Use Scree for your own trip planning, not to scalp, resell, or automate access to reservations.

7. Changing or ending the beta

This is a beta provided as-is and as-available. We may change, pause, or end it, or stop supporting a route, at any time. If we end a watch you have paid for before it has delivered useful service, the Refund Policy applies.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Scree's total liability for any claim relating to the beta is limited to the amount you paid for the affected watch. Scree is not liable for missed reservations, trips, costs, or other losses that follow from a delayed, missed, duplicated, or incorrect alert, or from availability changing before you book. Nothing here removes rights you have under applicable consumer-protection law that cannot be waived.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta, Canada, and the applicable federal laws of Canada.
